Ftelia West Side Beach Clean-Up in Mykonos, Greece

By October 23, 2024News

On October 20, 2024, Ftelia Beach on the west side of Mykonos became the focus of an impactful environmental initiative. From 16:00 to 17:00, a small yet dedicated team of three volunteers took action to clean up this picturesque location, collecting a total of 6 kg of plastic litter and 19 kg of other waste along a 230-meter stretch of the beach.

This clean-up event was part of a broader movement to protect our seas and shores from the growing issue of plastic pollution. Proudly supported by REMEDIES partner Impact Hub Athens, and organized as part of the #20TonnesChallenge in collaboration with WWF Greece’s Adopt a Beach program, this initiative was about more than just collecting waste—it was a step toward fostering a culture of sustainability and community-driven action.

The collected waste was responsibly disposed of, demonstrating a tangible, positive impact on the local environment. Efforts like these are critical to preserving the beauty and health of our coastal regions, while also raising awareness about the importance of protecting our marine ecosystems from plastic pollution.

Stay tuned for more initiatives from REMEDIES as we continue to promote innovative solutions and collaborative efforts to safeguard our oceans and waterways.
