I-SEAMORE, an Horizon Europe-funded project, aims to develop an integrated ecosystem for maritime operations. This platform will host and manage innovative assets, services, and systems, enhancing situational awareness and operational capabilities for European Authorities. By leveraging heterogeneous data sources, including Copernicus Services, and employing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data Analysis, I-SEAMORE will provide a common operational picture. This will empower decision-making and successful mission execution through data fusion services. The project encompasses the employment and indirect tasking of multiple types of long-endurance Unmanned Assets (aerial and water surface), the exploitation of heterogeneous data sources, the provision of a common operational picture, and interoperability within the Ecosystem and with external systems. The ultimate goal is to deliver a complete platform capable of managing the operation of multiple assets and systems with advanced maritime surveillance capabilities, easily deployable and operable at European Maritime Operation Centres.
The EU aims to reduce the amount of plastic litter at sea via the Mission “Restore our Oceans and Waters by 2030”. This goal can only be achieved by empowering EU citizens, especially children and young people to contribute to the Mission’s policy core objectives. Plastic Pirates – Go Europe! is a citizen science initiative that investigates plastic waste pollution in European rivers, oceans, and seas. Young people interested in science and the environment are given the opportunity to play a hands-on role in research and gather data used for science.
The Plastic Pirates – Go Europe! citizen science initiative is being rolled-out across Europe to raise awareness among young citizens on the impact and benefits that research can have on their daily lives and increase the capacity to collect, organise and verify data on plastic waste pollution. It is an action funded by the European Commission under the framework program Horizon Europe and part of the Mission “Restore our Oceans and Waters by 2030” from 2022 to 2025.
