4th Remedies Cluster Meeting “(Micro)plastics: How to Prepare for Tomorrow,” will be organized during Science Month by the National Institute of Chemistry and the Ministry of Higher Education and Innovation of Slovenia. This event serves as a platform for critical discussions surrounding the challenges posed by (micro)plastics and the strategies needed to address them effectively.
“(Micro)plastics: How to Prepare for Tomorrow” promises to be an insightful and forward-thinking event, where participants can engage with leading experts, exchange ideas, and explore actionable strategies to address one of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time. Your involvement in this event not only contributes to the dialogue but also plays a crucial role in shaping the future of plastic pollution management.
The event will feature a line-up of prestigious speakers and expert panellists, who will delve into the future frameworks designed to tackle the pervasive issue of (micro)plastics. These discussions will encompass a range of topics, including the significant role of the REACH legislation in regulating chemical safety within the EU. Attendees will gain insights into the recent ban on intentionally added microplastics, which was largely influenced by grassroots movements.
Presented examples from Slovenian partners in project REMEDIES and INSPIRE will emphasize the importance of understanding the full spectrum of microplastic pollution to develop comprehensive solutions. Furthermore, the event will tie into other EU Mission Ocean and Waters project, showcasing innovative, state-of-the-art solutions that are currently being implemented on the ground. These real-world case studies will illustrate effective strategies for mitigating microplastic pollution and highlight collaborative efforts across different sectors and disciplines.
As the discussions unfold, participants will give insights into the upcoming Global Plastic Treaty negotiations in Busan, scheduled for the end of November. This treaty aims to foster international collaboration and commitment to reducing plastic pollution globally. By engaging with these discussions, attendees will be better equipped to understand the broader context of microplastic pollution and the collaborative efforts needed to combat it.
Registration for in person participation is required via the online form.
The event will be also broadcasted live on YouTube, here.
