On September 26, a motivated group of volunteers joined forces at Kordia Beach in Kalamata, Greece, for a significant beach cleanup effort. Supported by REMEDIES partner Impact Hub Athens, this event was more than a cleanup; it was a step towards a sustainable future and cleaner oceans.
The cleanup, which ran from 9:00 to 12:30, attracted 27 volunteers dedicated to protecting the environment. During this time, they managed to cover a stretch of 150 meters along the beach, collecting 4.33 kg of plastic litter and an additional 1 kg of other waste materials. Every item removed represented a positive impact, bringing us closer to REMEDIES’ vision of a litter-free coastline.
This cleanup was part of the #20TonnesChallenge and organized in collaboration with WWF Greece’s Adopt a Beach program. Such initiatives play a crucial role in raising awareness about the importance of coastal conservation and mobilizing communities to take active roles in preserving natural landscapes.
Join us in our mission as we continue to work towards sustainable, plastic-free beaches across the Mediterranean. Together, we can create a lasting impact for our oceans and coastal ecosystems.
Stay tuned for more updates and upcoming cleanups as REMEDIES continues its journey toward protecting our oceans.
