The REMEDIES project took center stage at Ecomondo 2024 during the session titled “Boosting Technology and Business Models for the Implementation of the EU Mission: Restore Our Ocean and Waters in the Mediterranean.” This influential event, hosted by Ecomondo, provided a platform to discuss groundbreaking initiatives focused on tackling the growing issue of marine litter and pollution in the Mediterranean.
Representing REMEDIES, the National Research Council (CNR) shared insights into the project’s innovative approaches and technologies aimed at monitoring, collecting, and preventing marine plastic litter. By developing circular economy solutions and valorizing waste, REMEDIES strives to significantly reduce pollution, promoting healthier marine ecosystems across the Mediterranean.
Present alongside CNR were key REMEDIES partners, including Infordata, Venice Lagoon Plastic Free, and River Cleaning. Each partner brought forward complementary expertise, contributing to an engaging discussion on sustainable technologies and strategies to enhance environmental resilience and restore our oceans. Together, the partners highlighted ongoing work at the project’s demo sites, from plastic removal innovations to citizen science initiatives, underscoring the collaboration at the heart of REMEDIES.
Through sessions like these, REMEDIES is deepening its engagement with industry leaders, policymakers, and environmental stakeholders, reinforcing its commitment to a plastic-free future for Mediterranean waters.
