The REMEDIES Policy Workshops are designed as co-creation and policy-learning sessions that bring together researchers, EU Mission projects, public authorities, entrepreneurs, civil society organisations, local stakeholders, and innovation ecosystem actors. Their common goal is to collectively identify challenges, map existing capacities, and formulate practical recommendations that can strengthen environmental sustainability, plastic pollution reduction, and the long-term uptake of research and innovation outcomes in local contexts.

Each workshop follows a participatory methodology. The process begins with a plenary introduction to the REMEDIES project, the workshop objectives, and the wider policy context. Relevant EU Mission projects and invited organisations then present their work, results, and lessons learned. Participants continue in facilitated subgroup discussions, where they explore key questions linked to sustainable implementation, the valorisation or monetisation of research outcomes, citizen science, public awareness, and the role of local ecosystems.

The discussions are then harvested and transformed into action-oriented policy recommendations, identifying priorities, stakeholders, resources, and possible pathways for implementation. The recommendations will be shared with relevant decision-making bodies, project partners, and innovation ecosystem actors. Read the policy recommendations here.
