Welcome to Ljubljana and to what promises to be truly exceptional days of dialogue, discovery, and collaboration – the Future of Plastic (R)evolution Conference. We will gather around one of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time, being discussed: micro- and nanoplastics and chemicals with environmental concern with their effect on the environment and our lives, waiting to be (un)seen. These particles have long remained invisible to the naked eye and, too often, invisible to policy and public awareness alike. This conference is our collective step toward changing that.
From cutting-edge monitoring science and governance frameworks to ocean restoration initiatives and the human stories woven through it all – the Future of Plastic (R)evolution programme invites you to think deeper, connect broader, and act bolder.
This event is proudly co-organised by the Mission Ocean and Waters projects REMEDIES and REMEDIES 5.0, coordinated by the National Institute of Chemistry, bringing together European science, innovation, and the local voices coming from regions, ports, and waterfront cities – all in service of our oceans and waters and in support of the ambitious objective to Restore Our Ocean and Waters by 2030.
We are honored to welcome leading scientists, policymakers, innovators, and change-makers from across Europe and beyond. Your presence here matters. Let curiosity guide your conversations, let collaboration shape your ideas, and let Ljubljana – a city where rivers still speak – inspire your vision for a cleaner, more resilient future.
