As part of the REMEDIES project, a panel titled “REMEDIES for Festivals: A Bridge to Green EXIT and a Circular Future” will be hosted on 22 May 2025 at the BRIDGE Conference in Umag, Croatia. The panel is organised by EXIT Foundation, REMEDIES partner and Demo Site Leader, and will bring together key voices from the festival and sustainability sectors.
This 45-minute session will highlight how the REMEDIES project contributes to environmental protection, particularly in reducing plastic pollution at festivals through innovation, awareness, and collaboration. EXIT and Sea Star festivals serve as key demo sites in the REMEDIES project, piloting real-world solutions that blend music, culture, and sustainability.
The panel will feature insights from REMEDIES Coordinator Dr. Uroš Novak (Slovenia), Claire O’Neill from A Greener Future (UK), Lyke Poortvliet from Green Events / Green Deal Circular Festivals (Netherlands), Artur Mendes of Boom Festival (Portugal), and Ida Siljanović from EXIT Foundation (Serbia).
Discussion topics will include:
- Circular practices in the festival industry
- The Green EXIT and Bridge to Green EXIT initiatives
- Examples from Boom and EXIT festivals
- Realistic sustainability goals for event organisers
- Intersectoral collaboration through EU-funded projects like REMEDIES
- The road beyond demo editions: from pilot to long-term impact
This panel is part of the BRIDGE Conference, a unique regional event connecting innovation, sustainability, and creativity across sectors. Held from 20–22 May 2025 in Umag, the conference gathers changemakers in culture, technology, and environment to explore transformative actions.
In addition, REMEDIES is supporting the initiative Sjajni Umag – Shiny Umag and its next clean-up activity that will take place on 24 May at 10:00 AM, starting from Trg Slobode, Umag.
