Co-creating Local Innovations – Marina Izola as a Space for Sustainable Solutions for a Clean Sea

Date: 18 March 2026
Location: Izola, Slovenia

The session “Co-creating Local Innovations – Marina Izola as a Space for Sustainable Solutions for a Clean Sea” was organized within the REMEDIES project as part of activities at the Slovenian pilot site.

The event contributed to strengthening synergies among research, innovation, and local stakeholders, focusing on the shared challenge of marine plastic pollution in coastal environments. It showcased pilot activities in the Koper demonstration area and highlighted innovative technological solutions for monitoring and removing plastic waste from marine ecosystems.

By bringing together academia, industry, policymakers, and the local community, the session fostered knowledge exchange and cross-sector collaboration. Particular emphasis was placed on the integration of science and community engagement, as well as on synergies with other Horizon Europe projects.

The session also included on-site demonstrations of innovative solutions, providing participants with direct insight into real-world applications and their potential for wider implementation.
