REMEDIES is an Horizon Europe innovation Action creating innovative solutions and technologies to monitor, collect, prevent and valorise (micro)plastic from our oceans. Our approach is rooted in science, circularity, and community engagement aiming to protect water ecosystems, reduce pollution and develop a climate-neutral blue economy. We believe our ocean and waters are the lifeblood of our planet, and we have a responsibility to protect and preserve them for future generations. The health of our ocean and waters is crucial not only for the survival of countless marine species, but also for the well-being of human communities around the world. And they are facing significant challenges from plastic and micro-plastic pollution to overfishing and climate change. These challenges are complex and interconnected, and thus require a collaborative and innovative approach to overcome. That’s where REMEDIES movement comes in.
Since plastic marine litter is a global issue affecting us all, collaboration is crucial and REMEDIES aims to build a movement by connecting key stakeholders at Cluster Meetings. The first one presented a sister project UPSTREAM, vision of EU Mission: Restore Oceans and Waters and EMODnet that is powering the marine data ecosystem. Under the Mediterranean lighthouse of EU Ocean Mission representatives from Moroccan Regional Environmental Council,
University Mohammed Premier 1. NGO Homme et Environnement, All For Blue, Infordata Sistemi, Wasser 3.0, and Marine Conservation Greece discussed how we can escape the tide of plastic litter pollution and how each of us can contribute to this mission. REMEDIES will continue to enable MENA communities to join us on our journey in achieving climate neutrality and restoring nature.
